The Book of Drinks
وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، - وَاللَّفْظُ لاِبْنِ أَبِي عُمَرَ - قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ الأَحْوَلِ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عِيَاضٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، قَالَ لَمَّا نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَنِ النَّبِيذِ فِي الأَوْعِيَةِ قَالُوا لَيْسَ كُلُّ النَّاسِ يَجِدُ فَأَرْخَصَ لَهُمْ فِي الْجَرِّ غَيْرِ الْمُزَفَّتِ .
'Abdullah b. 'Amr reported that when Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) forbade (the preparation) of Nabidh in vessels, they said all the people cannot (afford to have) them. He (the Holy Prophet) then granted them permission (to prepare) Nabidh in a green pitcher, but not in those besmeared with pitch.
