The Book of Purification and its Sunnah
حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ كَرَامَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ بْنِ وَائِلٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ أُتِيَ بِدَلْوٍ فَمَضْمَضَ مِنْهُ فَمَجَّ فِيهِ مِسْكًا أَوْ أَطْيَبَ مِنَ الْمِسْكِ وَاسْتَنْثَرَ خَارِجًا مِنَ الدَّلْوِ .
"A bucket was brought to the Prophet; he rinsed his mouth and spat into it, and it was like musk or better than musk, and he rinsed his nostrils outside the bucket."
