The Book of Pilgrimage
" لاَ تُسَافِرِ الْمَرْأَةُ ثَلاَثًا إِلاَّ وَمَعَهَا ذُو مَحْرَمٍ "
A woman should not set out on three (days' journey) except when she has a Mahram with her.
