حَدَّثَنَا النُّفَيْلِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِمْرَانَ الْحَجَبِيُّ، عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ، صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ شَيْبَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي قَدْ وَلَدْتُ غُلاَمًا فَسَمَّيْتُهُ مُحَمَّدًا وَكَنَّيْتُهُ أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ فَذُكِرَ لِي أَنَّكَ تَكْرَهُ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ ‏"‏ مَا الَّذِي أَحَلَّ اسْمِي وَحَرَّمَ كُنْيَتِي ‏"‏ ‏.‏ أَوْ ‏"‏ مَا الَّذِي حَرَّمَ كُنْيَتِي وَأَحَلَّ اسْمِي ‏"‏ ‏.‏

A woman came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and said: Messenger of Allah! I have given birth to a boy, and call him Muhammad and AbulQasim as kunyah (surname), but I have been told that you disapproved of that. He replied: What is it which has made my name lawful and my kunyah unlawful, or what is it which has made my kunyah unlawful and my name lawful?
