حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ وَكِيعٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي وَيَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَهْلَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ لِي عُثْمَانُ يَوْمَ الدَّارِ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَدْ عَهِدَ إِلَىَّ عَهْدًا فَأَنَا صَابِرٌ عَلَيْهِ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ إِلاَّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ ‏.‏

"The day of the house (when he was besieged), 'Uthman said: 'Indeed the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) took a covenant from me, and I will abide by it.'"
