Arabic:

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُخْتَارِ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي بَلْجٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ أَوَّلُ مَنْ صَلَّى عَلِيٌّ ‏.‏ قَالَ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ مِنْ حَدِيثِ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ أَبِي بَلْجٍ إِلاَّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حُمَيْدٍ ‏.‏ وَأَبُو بَلْجٍ اسْمُهُ يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي سُلَيْمٍ ‏.‏ وَقَدِ اخْتَلَفَ أَهْلُ الْعِلْمِ فِي هَذَا فَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوَّلُ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقُ ‏.‏ وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوَّلُ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ عَلِيٌّ ‏.‏ وَقَالَ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ أَوَّلُ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَأَسْلَمَ عَلِيٌّ وَهُوَ غُلاَمٌ ابْنُ ثَمَانِ سِنِينَ وَأَوَّلُ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ خَدِيجَةُ ‏.‏

English:

"The first to perform Salat was 'Ali."

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ، رَجُلٌ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ زَيْدَ بْنَ أَرْقَمَ، يَقُولُ أَوَّلُ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ عَلِيٌّ ‏.‏ قَالَ عَمْرُو بْنُ مُرَّةَ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لإِبْرَاهِيمَ النَّخَعِيِّ فَأَنْكَرَهُ وَقَالَ أَوَّلُ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقُ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ ‏.‏ وَأَبُو حَمْزَةَ اسْمُهُ طَلْحَةُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ‏.‏

English:

that Zaid bin Al-Arqam said: "The first to accept Islam was 'Ali." 'Amr bin Murrah said: "So I mentioned that to Ibrahim An-Nakha'i, so he rejected that and said: 'The first to accept Islam was Abu Bakr As-Siddiq.'"

Arabic:

"‏ أَنَّهُ لاَ يُحِبُّكَ إِلاَّ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَبْغَضُكَ إِلاَّ مُنَافِقٌ ‏"

English:

"The Prophet (ﷺ) - the Unlettered Prophet - exhorted me (saying): 'None loves you except a believer and none hates you except a hypocrite.'" 'Adi bin Thabit (a narrator) said: "I am from the generation whom the Prophet (ﷺ) supplicated for."

Arabic:

"‏ اللَّهُمَّ لاَ تُمِتْنِي حَتَّى تُرِيَنِي عَلِيًّا ‏"

English:

"The Prophet (ﷺ) sent an army in which was 'Ali." She said: "While he was raising his hands, I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying: 'O Allah! Do not cause me to die until You allow me to see 'Ali."

Arabic:

"‏ أَوْجَبَ طَلْحَةُ ‏"

English:

that Az-Zubair said: "On the Day of (the battle of) Uhud, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) wore two coats of mail. He tried to get up on a boulder, but was not able to, so Talhah squatted under him, lifting the Prophet (ﷺ) upon it, such that he could sit on the boulder. So he said: 'It (Paradise) is obligatory for Talhah.'"

Arabic:

"‏ مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يَنْظُرَ إِلَى شَهِيدٍ يَمْشِي عَلَى وَجْهِ الأَرْضِ فَلْيَنْظُرْ إِلَى طَلْحَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ‏"

English:

that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Whoever would be pleased to look at a martyr walking upon the face of the earth, then let him look at Talhah bin 'Ubaidullah."

Arabic:

"‏ طَلْحَةُ مِمَّنْ قَضَى نَحْبَهُ ‏"

English:

"I entered upon Mu'awiyah and he said: 'Shall I not give you some good news?' I said: 'Of course!' He said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying: 'Talhah is among those who fulfilled their vow (referring to 33:23).'"

Arabic:

"‏ طَلْحَةُ وَالزُّبَيْرُ جَارَاىَ فِي الْجَنَّةِ ‏"

English:

"My ear heard from the mouth of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), while he was saying: 'Talhah and Az-Zubair are my neighbors in Paradise.'"

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلاَءِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا طَلْحَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، عَنْ مُوسَى، وَعِيسَى، ابْنَىْ طَلْحَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِمَا، طَلْحَةَ أَنَّ أَصْحَابَ، رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالُوا لأَعْرَابِيٍّ جَاهِلٍ سَلْهُ عَمَّنْ قَضَى نَحْبَهُ مَنْ هُوَ وَكَانُوا لاَ يَجْتَرِئُونَ عَلَى مَسْأَلَتِهِ يُوَقِّرُونَهُ وَيَهَابُونَهُ فَسَأَلَهُ الأَعْرَابِيُّ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ ثُمَّ سَأَلَهُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ ثُمَّ سَأَلَهُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ ثُمَّ إِنِّي اطَّلَعْتُ مِنْ بَابِ الْمَسْجِدِ وَعَلَىَّ ثِيَابٌ خُضْرٌ فَلَمَّا رَآنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏"‏ أَيْنَ السَّائِلُ عَمَّنْ قَضَى نَحْبَهُ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ الأَعْرَابِيُّ أَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏.‏ قَالَ ‏"‏ هَذَا مِمَّنْ قَضَى نَحْبَهُ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ إِلاَّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَبِي كُرَيْبٍ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ ‏.‏ وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ غَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ مِنْ كِبَارِ أَهْلِ الْحَدِيثِ عَنْ أَبِي كُرَيْبٍ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ ‏.‏ وَسَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ إِسْمَاعِيلَ يُحَدِّثُ بِهَذَا عَنْ أَبِي كُرَيْبٍ وَوَضَعَهُ فِي كِتَابِ الْفَوَائِدِ ‏.‏

English:

from their father: "The Companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) said, to an unknowing Bedouin man: 'Ask him who it is that has fulfilled his vow.' They were not in the habit of asking him questions out of their respect and reverence for him. So the Bedouin asked him, but he turned away from him. Then he asked him again, but he turned away from him. Then again he asked him, but he turned away from him. Then I stood looking from the door of the Masjid, while I was wearing a green garment, and I saw the Prophet (ﷺ), he said: 'Where is the one who was asking about the one who fulfilled his vow?' The Bedouin said: 'Here I am O Messenger of Allah!' The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'This is one who has fulfilled his vow.'"

Arabic:

"‏ بِأَبِي وَأُمِّي ‏"

English:

from Az-Zubair, who said: "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gathered together his parents for me the Day of Quraizah, (i.e. the battle of Ahzab) and said: 'May my mother and father be ransomed for you.'"
